A striking egg-shaped earthenware vase executed in the manner of Jean Dunand, the surface entirely covered in crushed eggshell inlaid into a deep carmine lacquer ground. The ivory fragments create an allover mosaic—offset against the warm red body visible between each fragment and along the interior collar. The technique, introduced to European decorative arts by Dunand in the 1920s, was widely adopted in French Art Deco workshops through the 1930s. Unsigned.
