Luc LANEL (1893–1965)

Gilt Bronze Vase for Christofle
France, c. 1930

Elegant baluster-form vase in richly patinated gilt bronze, featuring a mottled, speckled surface that exemplifies Luc Lanel's refined approach to modernist metalwork. Signed and hallmarked by Christofle, with model number 12A stamped to the base.

About the Designer

Luc Lanel (French, 1893–1965) was a key figure in French Art Deco and served as head of Christofle's galvanoplastic department during the 1920s and 1930s. He is best known for his innovative use of metal and for iconic designs presented at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. Lanel's work for Christofle helped define the company's modern identity, blending traditional craftsmanship with bold, forward-looking design.

Condition

Great condition. The vase does show signs of age, including minor deformations to the lip of the neck.
